Bring the kids, family and friends to an afternoon of sheer musical delight!  Our annual Family Concert packs a whole lot of fun into one event!  Meet our Phil musicians and their instruments during the pre-concert instrument demonstration--the perfect way to test-drive many instruments!  Our hour-long Phil concert includes performances by the Plymouth Children's Chorus and the winner of the South Shore Conservatory's Youth Concerto Competition, Karen Ji.  Family-friendly ticket prices make this an affordable, fun way to experience the magic of live orchestral music!

Joining the orchestra are the 100-plus voices of the Plymouth Children’s Chorus, Jessica Fuller, director.  In observance of Leonard Bernstein’s 100th birth year this year, the chorus performs Something’s Coming from West Side Story, as well as Double Trouble from John Williams’ film score to Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, and Walking in the Air from the British animated film, The Snowman.  The winner of the South Shore Conservatory youth concerto competition, 17-year-old Karen Ji of Hingham, is featured in music from Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 5 – also known as the Emperor Concerto.  To especially highlight the Phil’s acclaimed musicians, Conductor Karidoyanes has put together what he is calling a fun “American Musical Bouquet” that includes Aaron Copland’s spirited Hoe-Down, Leroy Anderson’s delightful Syncopated Clock, and a lively Pioneer Dance by 20th century Massachusetts composer Peggy Stuart Coolidge.

As with previous Family Concerts, this event is part of the national food drive, Orchestras Feeding America. Audience members are encouraged to bring and contribute non-perishable food items to benefit the Food Warehouse of Greater Plymouth.   Concert press release
